Host an Event at the Nissen House
The Historic Nissen House offers rental opportunities as a mission-supporting program. Revenue from rentals helps preserve the historic home and expand educational programming for the Lewisville community. While rentals are a distinct operational function, they remain fully aligned with our values of hospitality, authenticity, and community connection.
The house is equipped with a modern catering kitchen and bathrooms and up-to-date technological capabilities. All public areas of the house are handicapped accessible, with a rear-entry handicapped ramp and reserved parking space. A paved parking lot is immediately adjacent to the house for visitors and attendees of events.
In addition to the period furniture located permanently in the rooms, folding tables and chairs are available at no additional charge.
Occupancy limits for each room are set at 13 persons, with a maximum of 50 persons at any one time in the house. The second floor of the house is not open to the public at this time.
Teas and Catered Meals
Need to host your family or friends for a tea or meal?
Plan your next pot-luck supper or catered meal occasion at the Nissen House! Food can be kept warm or cold in our spacious warming cabinet and large refrigerator (no facilities are available for cooking food at the house). You can use your own caterer or try one of the recommended names on our list of caterers.
Engagement Parties & Weddings
The Nissen House is the perfect venue for small engagement parties or weddings. The stairway lends itself to bridal photos, and the Cabbage Rose and Renwick Olive Rooms can function as dressing or small party areas for the bride and groom. Both rooms can be closed off from public view. The front porch and lawn areas can also be reserved for tenting. PowerPoint capability is available.
Meetings and Conferences
The Nissen House offers space for meetings with a table seating capacity of 8 persons per room. Two of the rooms can be closed off for privacy, and catering kitchen use is available for snacks or lunch at a small rental charge. WiFi reception is available in all rooms.
Arts & Crafts Displays and Sales
You can rent one or more of our rooms to display and sell your special creations on our folding tables, and you can serve refreshments out of our catering kitchen at a small rental charge. What better way to put folks in the holiday spirit!
