Harvest Times at the Nissen’s
Bringing in the Harvest at the Historic Nissen House!
Step back into Lewisville in the 1880s to experience how farm families celebrated the harvest season. The event combines hands-on activities, storytelling, and authentic demonstrations inside the Historic Nissen House, with opportunities to explore the surrounding grounds for a taste of rural life.
For a suggested donation of just $5, you can enjoy a painting activity, see a Nissen Wagon and receive a guided tour of the house, learning about the area’s rich rural history. Bring your friends and family for a day filled with sweet treats, laughter, and a touch of nostalgia.
Don’t miss out on this chance to meet your neighbors, both past & present!
Registration opens in August!
Also if you scout troop, youth group, classroom or homeschool group wants to get creative this summer:
Build a Wagon. Tell a Story.
Help bring history to life at the Historic Nissen House! Families, schools, scouts, and community groups are invited to create a tabletop wagon for display during our annual Harvest Festival. Use any materials, add your own creative touch, and help tell the story of how wagons connected farms, families, and communities across the Piedmont. Find out more HERE.
